Words games
“I packed my bag for holidays and in it I put an Apple”
Next person repeats sentence and adds something with B, continue on through alphabet trying to recall all from A.
Alternatives- “I went on holidays and I met..” starting with A, B, C etc – famous people, Harry Potter characters, Peppa Pig characters, animals.
Alliteration name game- Make a sentence with the same letter at start of each word- see how long a sentence you can make, it must make sense!
e.g. An alien and an armadillo attracted attention after acting alarmed about alligators.
Cutting out words from newspapers and magazines and making up funny sentences.
Story games
Making up a story together by doing one sentence each and seeing where it ends up.
Using a variety of little figurines/toys make up a story that includes them all.
Make up a story and role play it together using props and dress up.
Think of a well known story/ fairytale/ nursery rhyme and make up a different ending, or tell it from the point of view of a different character.
Drawing games
One person draws a head on the top of a piece of paper and then folds it over leaving just a bit of neck showing, next person adds middle of body, folds it over leaving just the line to show where it is, last person adds legs- unfold and see the person you have all drawn!
One person draws something, next person adds to picture- taking turns without talking see what drawing you end up with.
Indoor games
Building dens/forts with cushions/ blankets/cardboard boxes
Having picnics
Doing a treasure hunt around the house.
Having a disco
Using lining paper- lay sheet on ground- have child lie on it and draw outline of their body- let them paint it.
Put water and fairy liquid in a bowl- get straws and blow into it- watch the bubbles rise!
Make playdoh or slime- lots of recipes online
Having fun with Youtube clips
Watch “The Lost thing” and follow it up by looking around the house and making your own “lost things”- putting 2/3 household items together and making up a name and story about your new creature.
Watch clips about “Unusual animal friendships” and follow up with chats about what each animal might be feeling.
Watch “talking twin babies” and guess what they might be saying
Watch “Funny animals” or “Funny babies” clips and pause and guess what might happen next or chat about what they might be thinking or feeling
